17 mai..

On the 17 of may(which is the National Day of Norway) we were out on Peterson Bay, doing some spring clean-up, hiking and tide-pooling. So not a day to dress up, eat ice-cream, drink champagne, walk in a parade,or watch a parade, see happy kids running around, see tired kids with earlier mentioned ice-cream all over their face and clothes, have on  uncomfy shoes, walk as sild-i-tønne, and so on..

This would be a typical picture from the 17`th in Norway:

We have these pictures: (not very well organised by the way)
asian meal, kind of, a little dry you might say..

oh yeah, celebrations!

filling up this tank with rocks and sand to make a new home for sea-things..

A little confused here I think..

sweet, he?

this is how fun it is to hold a blood-star

These are things that we look for

And this is the field station

spring flings

Cutest little thing, and deffintly a big spring fling this year: BRODY

How is it possible not to fall in love with these cuties?

As a volunteer at the Animal shelter I get to hang out with these guys among others, and I love it!
And they need it : they don`t have much space to play in their cages, no toys, just a small outdoor area, and no interaction with the other dogs during the day.
So it feels great and important to go down there and take them out to play and give them lots of love!

Meet BOW, another spring fling here in Homer

And this little, charming guy, named by Howard and me : BEAR

The reason for coming to Homer in the first place was Howard.
We get to hang out as well from time to time, and I love it!
And he needs it: Even though he has lots of toys, interactes with others and have a big outdoor area to play on, I like to think I make the best playmate!

How is it possible not to fall in love with this cutie?

Last years spring fling: HOWARD, and still going. Spring fling forever.

More animals to be scared of...

BEARS!  MOOSE!

FIRST thing I didn`t think I would do in Alaska.

Volunteer at a church:

Jepp, done it!
Guess I got voulunteerly forced into this by Sherly, who I had not meet before she invited us over for dinner last night..:
Who can say no after sweet potatoes, fish, wine and the biggest chocolate cake ever seen..?
smart woman.

Every Monday one of the MANY churches here organize food-pickups and give away food for the people who need it here in Homer.

Food, old, and half-old food get picked up at the different stores, and we got to pick out the really bad fruits..green beans being my specialty for the day..

We set everything ready on tables and people come in to get food-suppliments for their families.  Old and young, needy, and maybe not so needy(?) people come and get to pick vegetables, fruit, bread and sweets to bring home.
They can also get help with other personal things as who to contact if you don`t have a job and such things.

Nice way to spend the day, and it got me a free lunch! :)

COLOR ME BEAUTIFUL

Howard can tell you a lot about sea stars,I found this guy just hanging out on the dock.

playing with colors

kind of funny, kind of out of place, but still real.

So,I do have some time to kill over here, and one thing you can do is try out the different color graduations in picasa.

Some people kill time by doing these things, and maybe color graduate their pictures from their trip later,I dont know.
